Predeceased by: his parents Justin Martin and Cleofa Martin, and several siblings including Helen Arzu, Joyce, and Erica.

Survived by: his sister Catherine Smith, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and members of the Belizean Catholic community whom he served with devotion.

An official funeral was held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Co-Cathedral, Belmopan.

Viewing began at 2:00 p.m. and the funeral Mass commenced at 3:00 p.m., followed by interment in the churchyard.

Memorial Masses were also celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish in Dangriga on Sunday, February 26 and at Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Belize City on the morning of February 27.

Bishop Osmond Peter 'O.P.' Martin

The Most Reverend Osmond Peter Martin was the first native-born Belizean to be ordained Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He was ordained a priest in 1959 and later appointed Bishop of Belize City-Belmopan in 1983, a position he held until his retirement in 2006.
