At the time of his passing, Sir Cain was survived by his:
Wife of 56 years: Lady Leonie Elfreda Cain (née Locke)
Children: Sharon Cain and Maria Cain
The State Funeral was held at the Wesley Methodist Church on Albert Street, Belize City.
He was laid to rest at the Lord’s Ridge Cemetery in Belize City.
There was a 21-gun salute and laying of wreaths by government officials at the cemetery.
1940 - Joined the public service
1982 - Appointed as the 1st Central Bank Governor
1986 - Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II
1987 - Appointed as Belize's Financial Secretary
1991 - Resigned from Public Service
2006 - Received the Order of Distinguished Service
After battling cancer for eight years, Sir Edney Cain passed away at the age of 83 in his home in Belmopan on 17 January 2008.
