Sir Manuel was accorded a memorial event on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the Government House in Belize City.
On February 15, the urn containing the remains of the Rt. Hon. Dr. Sir Manuel Esquivel, KCMG, PC, was transported via Cortège (Procession) to the former State Dining Room at the Government House, where it lay in state. The paying of respects by invited guests only began at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.
On February 16 – Cortège (Procession) to the House of Culture in Belize City, commenced at 2:10 p.m. from the home of the former head of government, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all events were closed to the public.

14-16 February 2022: The Government of Belize announced a period of national mourning, with flags at half-mast.
Memorial format: He specifically requested that the service be more of a celebration than a traditional funeral, featuring music from classical, paranda to brukdown genres, rather than only solemn ceremony.
